Applicants submit their applications to the Railways Administration for rights to use the infrastructure, in return for the fees set out in Chapter 6 of the Network Statement (NS). Applications may be submitted either:

  • directly by the applicant, or
  • through the one-stop shops of RailNetEurope's member allocation bodies/infrastructure managers.

Requests concern the transport of passengers (passenger trains) or freight (freight trains), at international, national or cross-border level.

Applications are submitted in English or French, preferably using the train path application form (FR) or the train path application form (EN).

The following means of transmission are authorized: post, fax, e-mail with acknowledgement of receipt or the PCS software provided by RNE.

Chapter 4 of the DRR sets out the procedures for applying for train paths.

Requests for train paths scheduled to be put into circulation more than 5 working days after the date of the request should be sent to:
